If you’re looking into skin camouflage, you’ve probably come across both vitiligo and birthmarks — and maybe even wondered if they’re treated the same way.
While they can look similar on the surface, they’re actually very different.
But when it comes to how we approach them?
There are some important overlaps.
The main difference
Vitiligo is a condition that causes loss of pigment, resulting in lighter or white patches of skin.
Birthmarks are areas of skin that are either darker or lighter than your natural tone and are usually present from birth (or develop shortly after).
Can both be camouflaged?
In many cases — yes.
Both can be treated using skin tone blending (camouflage tattooing).
The goal isn’t to remove the skin — it’s to reduce contrast and help everything blend more naturally.
The approach is always customized
Even though the technique is similar, the way we treat each one depends on:
Your skin tone
The type of discoloration
The area being treated
How your skin responds
The goal is the same
No matter the cause, the goal is always:
👉 more balance
👉 less contrast
👉 skin that feels more like YOU
